PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus mounted on a vehicle and a control method for the imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: A left camera 11 and a right camera 12 image a body to be picked-up outside the vehicle under the control of a CPU71 on the basis of current position information of the vehicle whose position is estimated, vehicle state information such as driving at a slow speed, and information of the road on which the vehicle is located such as a narrow street, and the picked-up image is fed to a display apparatus via a selector 22 to allow a user to confirm an external condition without the need for a troublesome work by the user.
