PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an index information transmission method, apparatus and program, and an index information reproducing method, apparatus, and program capable of reproducing the state in contents and an environment of that location (a photographing site or the like at contents production). SOLUTION: An index information transmission and reproducing system 1 comprises: an index information transmission apparatus 3 for transmitting index information resulting from converting status information with respect to the presence of contents in the case of producing the contents; and an index information reproducing apparatus 5 for reproducing the index information, the index information transmission apparatus 3 is provided with an acquisition means 7: an index definition means 9; an index calculation means 11, and a transmission means 13, and the index information reproducing apparatus 5 is provided with: a reception means 15; an index inverse operation means 19; and a peripheral apparatus control means 21.
