PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide peripheral information optimized for a user. SOLUTION: A user of a terminal device 200 previously registers attribute information and taste trend in an information providing server 100. According to a request from the terminal device 200, the information providing server 100 sequentially obtains the information expressing the current position of the terminal device 200. According to the registered attribute information, the behavior range of the user is calculated. The information providing server 100 selects the peripheral information corresponding to the calculated behavior range according to the position of the user and the distance from an object shown in the peripheral information. At the time, according to the registered taste trend information, concerning the peripheral information in which the user is highly interested, the distance is virtually shortened. Further, the peripheral information concerned with the behavior range is selected according to designated precedence and transmitted to the terminal device 200. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
