PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive analog/digital converter for converting an analog video signal representing luminance into a digital signal while preventing the quality of a video image from being lowered due to analog/digital conversion. SOLUTION: The analog/digital converter 1 is provided with: an analog/digital converter 11 with a first prescribed resolution for converting the video signal into a digital signal whose value is greatly changes with respect to a change in a level of the video signal as the video signal represents a lower luminance; and a resolution conversion section 12 for converting the digital signal with the first resolution outputted from the analog/digital converter 11 into a digital signal with a second resolution higher than the first resolution.
