PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile terminal with higher convenience by changing a compression system depending on an original read mode so as to minimize the increase in a communication time even in the case of transmission of a color image. SOLUTION: The facsimile terminal capable of transmitting a color image is provided with a main control section for controlling selection of a compression system of a high compression rate when a text mode is selected in the color original read mode.
