PURPOSE: A contamination preventing apparatus is provided to prevent a contamination of the reflector by depositing a photocatalytic material on the inner surface of the reflector. CONSTITUTION: A contamination preventing apparatus comprises an electrodeless bulb(1) encapsulated with a material for emitting a light by the microwave generated from a microwave generator(3) arranged in a casing(C), wherein the electrodeless bulb is protruded from the casing; a resonator(5) for accommodating the electrodeless bulb, and cutting off the microwave and allowing the light emitted from the electrodeless bulb to exit; a mirror(6) mounted in the resonator, and which reflects the light emitted from the electrodeless bulb; a reflector(7) for accommodating the electrodeless bulb and the resonator, and which is mounted on the surface of the casing in such a manner that the reflector emits a light to the outside; and a photocatalytic material deposited on the inner surface of the reflector so as to remove a contaminant by the light emitted from the electrodeless bulb.
