PURPOSE: A shift impact-absorbing device for an electric vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to prevent breakage of a stack of fuel batteries caused by a reverse current and to absorb shift impact. CONSTITUTION: A shift impact-absorbing device for an electric vehicle includes a two-speed transmission(20) disposed to the fuel battery-electric vehicle; a driving motor(30) installed to the transmission, to supply driving force; a damping device(40) connected to the driving motor, to restrict the driving motor by hydraulic pressure; a controller(50) controlling the driving motor and the damping device; and an electronic controlled hydraulic valve(60) controlling the strength of the hydraulic pressure of the damping device.
