PURPOSE: A flat panel is provided to bend the explosion proof band at the optimum position, while reducing the overall height of the flat panel. CONSTITUTION: A flat panel(20) comprises a face portion(21) having a face center area(29a) forming a useful screen for displaying images and a face peripheral area(29b); a skirt portion extended in a rearward direction from the edge of the face portion; and a blend round portion(24) for interconnecting the face portion and the skirt portion. The height(H2) measured from the mold match line formed at the outer surface of the skirt portion to the center of the face portion satisfies the formula 8<=H2<=T1x2.24-D¬0.5x0.027, provided that the average outer curvature radius(R) of the face portion satisfied the formula R>=10,000, the wedge ratio(T1/T2) formed by the face center thickness(T1) and the face periphery thickness(T2) satisfies the formula 1.5<=T2/T1, and the diameter(D) of the diagonal useful screen of the face portion satisfies the formula D<=500.
