PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the superposing of a DC component generated in a non- user data area on data of the area while suppressing the power consumption. SOLUTION: The method comprises: selecting a level of a laser power to be a reproduction level until a prescribed period of time t2 elapses after the start of the non-user data area (S201); calculating a DC level of a reproduced signal (S204); recording pattern data to suppress the DC level up to the end of the non-user data area (S205 to S207) when the DCLV (DC level) is a threshold value STDDC or more as a result of the arithmetic operation (S204); maintaining the reproduction laser power until a timing when the recording position reaches an end t3 of the non-user data area if the DCLV of the arithmetic result is less than the threshold value STDDC (S209), then selecting the recording laser power for recording a DC free pattern at the end of the non-user data area to thereby limit the laser power for the non-user data area and suppress the power consumption.
