PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital television broadcast receiver capable of recording digital television broadcast programs for a long time even when employing a recording medium at an expensive information recording unit and having a small recording capacity such as a hard disk drive. SOLUTION: The digital television broadcast receiver can record digital television broadcast programs for a long time wherein a TS decoder 4 generates a TS packet of a channel desired by a user from a digital television broadcast signal received with a tuner 1, a PES conversion section 6 converts the produced TS packet into a PES packet, an ES conversion section 9 converts the converted PES packet into ES data according to an analysis result by a PES analysis section 7, a PES reorganization section 8 reorganizes the PES packet data by extracting only I pictures from the converted ES data, and the receiver records only a main image in video data by writing the reorganized PES packet data to the hard disk drive via an HDD control section 5.
