PURPOSE: An apparatus for adjusting gamma and white balance of an LCD projection TV and a method thereof are provided to improve a contrast ratio by fixing contrast of R, G, and B video signals at a certain value, and improve resolution by outputting wanted gamma value of each gray scale. CONSTITUTION: Gamma of a black pattern is adjusted by adjusting a reference voltage by outputting R, G, and B video signals at the minimum brightness(S11). Contrast of the R, G, and B video signals is regularly set(S12). The R, G, and B video signals are displayed at the maximum brightness, that is the maximum white pattern, and white balance is adjusted in the maximum white pattern state and brightness of the maximum white pattern is measured(S13). Gamma and white balance of the R, G, and B video signals are adjusted to obtain the wanted brightness of each gray scale based on the measured maximum brightness(S14-S15).
