SECTIONAL DRIVE SYSTEM

A sectional drive system (1) for transmitting rotational power to an output (42), which system includes multiple splined drive segments (17) which are nested and interlocked as a drive string (10) that is rotatable in a selected straight or curved path. The top one of the drive segments (17) cooperates with a drive mechanism to effect rotation of the nested drive segments (17) in concert, and the bottom one of the drive segments (17) connects to a suitable output (42) such as a drill bit (51).
