A sun visor for motor vehicles has its surface enlarged by the fitting of a hinged or extendable, transparent, tinted plastic screen. A hingable element with a 6-edge shaft with a slot is screwed or glued on the upper edge and is fastened by the fastening element of a spring steel clamp (2). The additional screen has locking elements interacting with mating elements on the sun visor so that the protective surface is variable by steps. The additional screen may be continuously adjusted by a miniature motor interacting with a switch.
