A leather with a grain structured visible side (sic) or in which the visible side, especially of a split leather, is formed by a dressing (2), and the back side opposite the visible side (sic) is provided with a plastics foam finish (3), obtained from a liquid and finally consolidated by heating, i.e. the foam finish is formed by a short hot air blast applied to the liquid plastic material (PM). An Independent claim is included for preparation of the leather as above where the PM (PM) contains microhollow beads (6), and the PM applied to the back side is at least partially strengthened before application of the short hot air blast.
