1322907 Needling machines HINDLE SON & CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [11 March 1970] 11567/70 Heading D1R A needling machine comprises a reciprocable needle beam comprising a plurality of end-toend sections and drive means for reciprocating the sections in a predetermined sequence. The machine may comprise, Fig. 1, beam sections N 1 to N 6 each reciprocated via rods 4 by a pair of eccentrics on shaft 2. The pairs of eccentrics are angularly spaced about shaft 2 to reciprocate the beam segments in the required sequence. Shaft 2 may comprise shafts, one for each beam section, joined by flexible couplings C which may be constructed to allow the relative angular dispositions of the pairs of eccentrics to be adjusted. A flywheel may be coupled to each eccentric or pair of eccentrics. Alternatively (Fig. 4, not shown) each beam section may be reciprocated via four rods by two pairs of eccentrics, each pair being mounted on a separate shaft extending transverse to the beam sections. Each transverse shaft is rotated via worm or bevel gearing by a shaft extending parallel to the beam sections. Guide means for the beam sections may comprise half-cross-heads G1, Fig. 3a, on the ends of adjacent beam sections which slidably engage a fixed bar G2 between the ends. |
