A yarn is smoothed by moistening the yarn and then withdrawing the moistened yarn from a bobbin rotating inside a container such that the yarn balloon contacts the inner surface of the container and forms a liquid film thereon. The yarn may be. moistened by one or more passages through a bath of water, a finishing preparation, an oil, or a wax. The bobbin may be mounted on a cap spinning frame with the container rotating with the bobbin, or on a rotating spindle with the container stationary. |
