The filter has a filter housing (2) with a base (220), a lid (212), two lateral sides (224,225), a front and a rear side. An electronic filter circuit is provided with a choke (20). Thermal insulation (211,210) is provided between the choke and at least one of the lateral sides. The filter housing may be non-encapsulated. An independent claim is included for an apparatus with a filter mounted on the base.
