An optical module (10) comprises a substrate (11), a light- emitting module (14), a light-receiving module (19), and a housing. The substrate (11) has a front face and a rear face. The light-emitting module (14) and the light-receiving module (19) are mounted on the substrate (11). The housing receives the substrate (11). The housing has an upper housing (12) and a lower housing (13). The upper housing (12) is provided on the rear face side of the substrate (11) and is in contact with the rear face. The lower housing (13) is provided on the front face side of the substrate (11) and is in contact with the front face. The substrate (11) is sandwiched and supported by the upper housing (12) and the lower housing (13).
