The invention concerns a system for positioning relative to a patient's body an observation and/or intervention device (12, 14) whereof one portion penetrates the patient's body comprising a base (18) arranged on the patient's body, a means for supporting the device consisting of a first part (24) mounted mobile on the base in a connection with one degree of freedom, and a second part (26) mounted mobile on the first part in a connection with one degree of freedom and linked to the device; and means for actuating the first part relative to the base, and the second part relative to the first part, wherein the base remotely encloses at least partly the device, the latter being removably linked to the second part to enable the positioning system to be removed while maintaining the device in place.
