A food preparation machine dices fruit and vegetables. The assembly has a hopper which discharges to a shaft to a chamber with a sideways-mounted fixed cutting grid. The fruit or vegetables are pressed onto the cutting grid by a rotating wedge-shaped arm. The discharge zone is located esp. within a radial cowling (18).
