A variable displacement swash plate type compressor and a method of manufacturing pistons used for the compressor, the pistons (7) comprising cylindrical head parts (71) and bridge parts (72) connecting the head parts (71) to a swash plate (10), wherein hollow parts (73) and holes (74) allowing the hollow parts (73) to communicate with the outside are formed in the head parts (71); the method comprising the steps of casting the pistons (7) using fluidizable cores and discharging the fluidized cores from the holes (74).
