PURPOSE: A color sorting apparatus is provided to prevent a Moire phenomenon at the horizontal end of the screen by suppressing an increase of Moire strength caused due to the reduction of vertical diameter of electron beam. CONSTITUTION: A color sorting apparatus(2) comprises a shadow mask(4) having a curved effective surface(12) on which a plurality of electron beam passing holes(4a) are formed, and skirt portions(14) extended in a vertical direction from four edges of the effective surface; and a mask frame(10) fixed to the skirt portions of the shadow mask, and fixed in a face panel in such a manner that the shadow mask is opposed to a phosphor screen. The shadow mask satisfied the condition Ke/Kox100>=80(%), wherein Ko is K-value of the center of the screen and Ke is K-value of the periphery of the screen. K is defined by the condition K=DL/PvxBs/Ps, wherein DL is the vertical length of the electron beam passing hole, Pv is the vertical pitch of the electron beam passing hole, Bs is the vertical diameter of the electron beam, and Ps is the vertical pitch of the electron beam.
