The artificial knee joint (1) is fitted with one oil duct regulating the straightening of the leg and a second controlling the bending motion. When the lower leg (3, 9) is supported against the ground a throttle valve is activated, closing the bending duct and fixing the stump (8) in relation to the lower leg (3, 9), facilitating a safe standing on a sloping ground. An air valve activates the throttle valve in order to reduce the amount of oil guided through the bending duct when the user walks quickly.
