Method for carrying out a crash test in which an object (6), especially a motor vehicle, is held stationary, while a collision body (5) is moved towards the object to cause the crash. The speed of the collision body is regulated during the collision. An Independent claim is made for a device for carrying out a crash test with a stationary object, especially a motor vehicle, and a moving collision body. The moving collision body is moved on a sliding carriage towards the stationary object at a controlled speed.
