Disclosed is an inverse multiplexing system over Ethernet and a method of using the same, which links two different Ethernets to each other through a single pair high speed digital subscriber line (xDSL) using twisted-pair cables, to thereby enable broadband data transmission and reduce network construction cost. The inverse multiplexing system over Ethernet, which links first and second Ethernets to each other using a plurality of twisted-pair cables, includes first and second IME devices. The first IME device segments an Ethernet frame received from the first Ethernet into a plurality of IME cells each of which has a fixed length and predetermined alignment information included in header information, modulates the IME cells into xDSL signals, and transmits the signals to a transmission line composed of the twisted-pair cables. Otherwise, the first IME device demodulates multiple xDSL signals received from the transmission line into multiple IME cells, sequentially aligns the IME cells according to the alignment information, and reassembles the IME cells into the original Ethernet frame to transmit it to the first Ethernet. The second IME device is connected between the twisted-pair cables and the second Ethernet and has the same internal configuration as that of the first IME device to enable transmission and reception of data using the IME cells between the first and second Ethernets. |
