CARDIAC MUSCLE FUNCTION EVALUATION SYSTEM

The image of a cross section of the left ventricle of a heart is divided into six predetermined regions. The regions defined by the division are set as regions of interest. In each region of interest, the ratio of the lumen cross-sectional area at the diastole start 30% passage to that at the maximum diastole is calculated. The calculated ratio of lumen cross-sectional area is compared with an evaluation reference value, the cardiac muscle function is evaluated, and the results of the evaluation is outputted to the screen. Therefore a cardiac muscle function can be simply and quickly evaluated by even the subject or a doctor or nurse having poor expertise concerning cardiac diseases.
