PURPOSE: A maintenance method for a VDSL(Very-high-data-rate Digital Subscriber Line) system is provided to use a VOC(VDSL Overhead Control) frame used when setting a VDSL link in order to perform an OAM(Operation, Administration and Maintenance) process, thereby immediately carrying out the OAM process after setting the link. CONSTITUTION: A CO(Central Office)(100) transmits an idle state request VOC frame to a CPE(Customer Premises Equipment)(110)(301). The CPE(110) transmits a VOC frame including an idle OP(Operation) code return message to the CO(100) in idle state(303). When the CO(100) requests OAM information of the CPE(110), the CO(100) transmits an information request VOC frame(304) to the CPE(110)(305). The CPE(110) transmits an information response VOC frame(306) to the CO(100)(307). The CO(100) transmits a VOC frame(308) including an idle OP code to the CPE(110)(309). The CO(100) receives a VOC frame(310) including an idle OP code return message(309), and one OAM cycle(340) is completed(311).
