The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition in the form of an aqueous solution having a pH value within the range of from 3.5 to 5.5, comprising an alkaline salt of a bisphosphonic acid and lidocaine hydrochloride at a concentration within the range of from 0.5 to 2.0% (w/v). The composition is particularly suitable for intramuscular administration.
