PURPOSE: A device for generating reference timing during handover in an asynchronous CDMA mobile communication system is provided to generate the reference timing in consideration of timing for signals transmitted from many base stations when a user terminal exists in a soft handover region, thereby exactly receiving channel signals and exactly demodulating the channel signals. CONSTITUTION: Finger units(511-521) demodulate multiple path signals of channel signals transmitted from base stations, respectively. An RTG(Reference Timing Generator) set(500) generates frame boundary signals of the channel signals transmitted from the base stations, respectively, by corresponding to timing of earliest multiple path signals demodulated in the finger units(511-521), and selects an earliest one of the frame boundary signals as reference timing of a user terminal. Channels of the channel signals are common pilot channels.
