1275608 Removing pollutants from water DITTA CAVALIERI RAG CESARE 8 Oct 1969 [19 Oct 1968] 49491/69 Heading C1C [Also in Divisions D1-D2] A floating barrier for arresting, confining and absorbing water pollutants in suspension therein comprises:-(a) a central rope 1 of polypropylene fibre; (b) a first layer 2 of polystyrene surrounding the rope 1; (c) a second layer 3 of polypropylene and granular polystyrene, said polypropylene consisting of staples and fibre waste; (d) a net 4 of polypropylene surrounding the second layer 3; (e) a third layer 5 of polypropylene in the form of staples and fibre waste; and (f) a net 6 of polypropylene fibre surrounding the layer 5. The first layer 2 may be granular or in block form. The polypropylene acts as a pollutantabsorber whilst the polystyrene acts as a waterproofing agent.
