<p>The invention relates to a calender nip through which a paper or paperboard web to be treated is arranged to travel, said paper or paperboard web comprising a first and a second surface, of which the first surface is in contact with the surface forming the other counter surface of the nip. The web is arranged to be loaded on the second side of the web with a force attained without a counter surface in contact with the second surface of the web.
