A process for the field orientation control of a permanent magnet-excited synchronous motor controls long and cross currents (1,2), leads to an uncoupling network, converts to a multiphase ac voltage by a transformer (13), feeds to a pulse inverter controlling the motor and has rotation-dependent voltage limiters (3,4). An Independent claim is also included for a device to operate the above process.
