The winding device for the winding of a material web into a roll has a pressure-bearing unit which at least during a section of the winding process acts upon the upper half of the circumference of the material web roll. The pressure-bearing unit has at least two pressing-on elements (12,15), the load action of which (F1,F2,16,17) is adjustable independently of each other. The pressing-on elements extend on opposed sides of a vertical plane (13) through the rotational axis (14) of the material web roll (3).
