<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image carrier cleaning method for an electrophotographic device, whereby an optimum amount of toner required to abrade the surface of an image carrier is supplied to a slide abrasive roller and, at the same time, an abrasion amount corresponding to humidity and temperature can be obtained. <P>SOLUTION: A refreshing operation includes an image carrier surface abrading operation using the slide abrasive roller, which follows a solid image forming operation. Time required for the image forming operation, the time required for the image carrier surface abrading operation, and the number of times that the refreshing operation is repeated are set so as to correspond to humidity and temperature. Thus, toner sufficient enough to abrade the image carrier, which the slide abrasive roller can hold thereon, is supplied and the time required to abrade the surface is ensured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
