PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the temperature of an air conditioner in an operating temperature range according to the capability of an interior unit and an exterior unit constituting the air conditioner regardless of the type and form of a controller. SOLUTION: In an air conditioning system, each capability of two or more interior units 2 and exterior units 3 is stored in a ROM of the exterior unit 3, the set temperature range for operating the respective component units is transmitted to the controller 1 from the exterior unit 3 by communication. Thus, the temperature of air can be controlled with the capability of the interior unit 2 and exterior unit 3 constituting the air conditioning system, that is, in a temperature range for operating the respective component units regardless of the type and form of the controller 1. In this case, it will be sufficient to connect the exterior units collected and installed in one place to the controller, so wiring equipment can be simplified so as to reduce the cost.
