PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous resin composition which has good water resistance, good compatibility with resins, and good antioxidative function. SOLUTION: This resin composition for artificial leathers comprises an aqueous polyurethane resin (a), and an emulsion produced by neutralizing the solution of an oxidatively functional resin (c) with a neutralizing agent (g) and then dispersing the product in water. The solution of the oxidatively functional resin (c) is obtained by subjecting an oxidative function-having group-containing polyol (b) represented by general formula (1) [R1 is a 1 to 10C alkyl; R2 is a 1 to 10C alkylene and/or (CH<SB>2</SB>-CH<SB>2</SB>-O)<SB>m</SB>; R3 is a 1 to 10C alkylene and/or (O-CH<SB>2</SB>-CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>; R4 is a 1 to 10C alkylene and/or (O-CH<SB>2</SB>-CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>l</SB>; R5 is a 1 to 10C alkyl; (m), (n) and (l) are each an integer of 1 to 10], a polyol (d) and an ionic group-containing compound (c) to a urethanation reaction using an organic polyisocyanate (f) in an organic solvent (h).
