<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical, highly sensitive, highly stable, and durable system used for a high-throughput multiple capillary electrophoresis separating system in order to automatically detect laser-excited fluorescence. <P>SOLUTION: The detecting system includes a plurality of analytical sample volumes sealed in parts of a capillary column; an electromagnetic radiation source; a mirror for reflecting electromagnetic radiation from the electromagnetic radiation source to one selected sample volume; a convergent lens for converging the electromagnetic radiation reflected from the mirror to the sample volume located at the center of the capillary column; a scanner mounted to the mirror; a parabolic mirror for collecting sample electromagnetic radiation from the sample volume; and a detector for detecting the sample electromagnetic radiation from the sample volume. The sample volumes are located in a vicinity of the focal point of the parabolic mirror in such a way that the sample electromagnetic radiation from each sample volume is reflected by the parabolic mirror toward the detector. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
