PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a ferrule for an optical connector by which a chamfered part at the guide hole of the ferrule is easily formed in sufficiently shortened working time, and the ferrule. SOLUTION: In this method of manufacturing the ferrule 3A in which a containing hole 7 where an optical fiber is inserted and fixed and the guide hole 11 to which a pin 12 is inserted are internally extended from a connection end face 6 and a chamfered part 13 is formed at the connection end face 6 of the guide hole 11, a ferrule molding 15 is fusion-molded, consisting of a resin composition containing a component capable of forming cross-linking structure by ionizing radiations and having the end face 6, the guide hole 11 and the containing hole 7. A chamfered part 13 is formed in the guide hole 11 by machining, the cross-linking structure is formed in the ferrule molding 15 by irradiating the ferrule molding 15 with ionizing radiations to obtain the ferrule 3A. In this case, machining is facilitated to sufficiently shorten the machining time. The cross-linking structure by ionizing radiations can be formed at normal temperature, thereby sufficiently suppressing residual distortion caused by thermal shrinkage. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
