OPTICAL FIBER POSITIONING UNIT, OPTICAL FIBER ARRAY AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING OPTICAL FIBER ARRAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly accurate optical fiber array which is easy to manufacture and whose manufacturing cost is reduced. SOLUTION: This optical fiber array 10 is provided with a first subunit 20 having a plurality of positioning holes 24 for receiving, positioning and fixing the ends of wire parts 14 each provided at one end of optical fibers 12, and a second subunit 22 arranged adjacently to the first subunit having fixing holes 36, the number of which is the same as the number of the positioning holes, for receiving and fixing the rest wire parts of the optical fibers 12 and covering parts 16 adjacent to the wire parts. The first subunit positions the optical fibers with high accuracy, and the second subunit can be made of inexpensive materials and surely fixes the optical fibers. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
