PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a WC-Co alloy which hardly causes a brittle fracture. SOLUTION: This alloy contains Co and WC, wherein particles of WC appearing on the cut surface when the alloy is levelly cut, have an average value of maximum lengths in a range of 6μm or longer but 20μm or shorter. The skewness of a distribution of the above maximum lengths may be 5 or less. Furthermore, a ratio of the number of the WC particles having the maximum length of 2μm or less to the number of the all WC particles appearing on the cut surface, may be 10% or less. In addition, the ratio of mass of Co to total mass of WC and Co may be 4-18 wt.%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
