PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a diamond stylus of which the nose angle is small and which can engrave an image having a smooth and sharp outline substantially free from unevenness between cells. SOLUTION: The diamond stylus 10A comprises a front cutting edge 13 slanting toward the axis of a shank 11, a lateral cutting edge 14 extending in parallel with the axis of the shank 11, a cutting nose 15 formed at the intersection of the front cutting edge 13 and the lateral cutting edge 14 with a nose angleθof less than 90°maintained, a front clearance face 17 formed on the front face of the shank 11 gradually slanting rearward toward the bottom face of the shank 11 from the front cutting edge 13, and a lateral clearance face 18 formed on one side face of the shank 11 gradually slanting on the other side face toward the bottom face of the shank 11 from the lateral cutting edge 14.
