PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous cast member superior in a mold releasing property. SOLUTION: The porous cast member made of a porous body to be impregnated with a molten metal when the body is cast in the molten metal, has a cast face to be impregnated with the molten metal while contacting with it, and an opposite face facing the cast face toward a direction into which the molten metal intrudes, wherein the opposite face has a lower porosity and a higher density than the cast face, so as to substantially prevent the impregnated molten metal from flowing out when the body is cast.
