<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material which uses stable bis-leaving group couplers and aromatic amines which forms azomethine coloring matter by reacting with the couplers as coloring components and is excellent in coloring density. <P>SOLUTION: The recording material contains the couplers expressed by the undermentioned formula (1) and/or formula (2) and the aromatic amines which can form the azomethine coloring matter by reacting with the couplers. In the formula (1) and the formula (2), R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>, R<SB>3</SB>are each a hydrogen atom or a substituent; and X and Y are each a substituent which can leave by reacting with a nucleophilic reagent and cannot be the same substituent.
