<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To abrade the surface of a photoreceptor without exerting effect on print image quality, in an electrophotographic device which carries out image formation by forming an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor and attaching toner to the latent image with the force of an electric field. <P>SOLUTION: As shown by FIG. 1, the device is provided with an abrasive roller 1 located so as to contact the photoreceptor 7. The abrasive roller 1 is held by an abrasive roller support member 2. Upon an abrasion mode started when printing is not carried out, the abrasive roller 1 is pressed to the photoreceptor 7 by a spring 5 connected to an abrasive roller support member 2, and starts to abrade the surface of the photoreceptor. During the abrasion mode, the printing operation is not carried out at all. After the abrasion mode is finished, a cam 4 is rotated by a positioning motor 3 and the abrasive roller 1 is separated from the surface of the photoreceptor 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
