摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a spindle unit for a magnetic disc device and improve the rotational accuracy. SOLUTION: The spindle unit rotatably supports a shaft 5 inserted in a hub 1 with a sliding bearing 2 installed in a housing 13. The sliding bearing 2 is integrally comprised of a radial bearing part 21 at the inner perimeter, and a thrust bearing part 2b at both the end parts. The end is arranged at an end of a boss 4 formed in a hub 1, and the other end opposite to a flange 6 of the end of the shaft 5 with a clearance. The clearance is set by inserting the shaft 5 into the sliding bearing 2, bringing a jig 24 having a recess part including the shaft flange 6 and added by the thickness of the shaft flange 6 plus a predetermined clearance in contact with the other end of the sliding bearing 2, pressing the hole of the boss 4 on the shaft 5 until the end of the boss 4 contacts the end of the sliding bearing 2, and then removing the jig 24.
