PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method of screening endocrine disrupting substances for a system that is poor in the ability to bond to receptors of the endocrine disrupting substances, such as the thyroid system, and an accurate method of inspecting whether or not endocrine disrupting substances are contained in the environment. SOLUTION: The method for screening endocrine disrupting substances includes comparing the amount of thyroid hormone-transthyretin combinations which occur when thyroid hormone and transthyretin coexist to the amount of thyroid hormone-transthyretin combinations which occur when thyroid hormone, transthyretin, and candidate substances coexist; and determining any candidate substance which, by coexisting, varies the amount of thyroid hormone- transthyretin combinations produced as being an endocrine disrupting substance.
