PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door opening device for a refrigerator wherein a rush current is suppressed without providing a rush current-preventing resistor. SOLUTION: This device has a door opening switch 6 operating a door opening unit 15 having a solenoid 16 which open a door of the refrigerator, and a full-wave rectification circuit 44 including an electrolytic capacitor 50 and a diode bridge circuit 48 converting commercial power 42 into DC power. The solenoid 16 is connected to the rectification circuit 44. When the switch 6 is operated, a control part 32 outputs an ON signal to a zero-crossing detection type phototriac 40. When an AC voltage of the commercial power 42 is at a zero-cross point in the case that the ON signal is inputted, the phototriac 40 turns on a triac 54 connected between the commercial power 42 and the rectification circuit 44 to carry current to the solenoid 16.
