摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fiber having high strength and modulus independent of the molecular weight, etc., of polyhydroxyalkanoic acids (PHAs) dependent upon the origin such as a product of a wild strain of a PHAs-producing microorganism, a product of a gene recombinant strain, chemically synthesized material, etc., and provide a fiber produced by the method. SOLUTION: The method for the production of the fiber comprises the melt- extrusion of a polyhydroxyalkanoic acid, the quenching of the fiber at≤Tg+15°C (Tg is the glass transition temperature of the polyhydroxyalkanoic acid) to solidify the fiber and obtain an amorphous fiber, the cold-drawing of the amorphous fiber at≤Tg+20°C, the drawing at or above the glass transition temperature and the heat-treatment of the product in stretched state.
