PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid or reduce fixation of liquid slag to a space arranged on the top of an inner pipe in the cooling chamber of a high-temperature gasification furnace or to a part in the vicinity of the space, which is a problem in the case of using a conventional pressure two-stage gasification apparatus for combustible waste. SOLUTION: The high-temperature gasification furnace is equipped with a ring-shaped skirt part which has an inner diameter larger than that of a throat part and smaller than that of an inner pipe at the bottom of the throat part and is arranged coaxially with the inner pipe. Consequently, the penetration of the liquid slag to the space arranged on the top of the inner pipe is prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
