OPTICAL ELEMENT USING ONE-DIMENSIONAL PHOTONIC CRYSTAL AND SPECTROSCOPIC SYSTEM USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spectroscopic element with large wavelength dispersion and a small spectroscopic system using the spectroscopic element. SOLUTION: This optical element using one-dimensional photonic crystal is realized by an element 20 which is composed of a multilayer film layer 1 and worked into a triangular prism shape. A phase modulation means 6 is provided in the vicinity of or allowed to abut on a light incident end face of the element, phase modulation having the same cycle and direction as those of the photonic crystal is applied to incident light 3, and only particular higher order band light can be propagated. The small spectroscopic system having high resolution can be provided by forming the optical element in an optical waveguide. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
